Item Details
Harris® ER 309L 0.035" dia. stainless Steel MIG (GMAW) welding wire comes in a 2 lb. spool and has similar usage as 309, but the 0.03% maximum carbon content increases resistance to intergranular corrosion. Used for welding similar alloys in wrought or cast form. Occasionally used for welding 18-8 base metals when severe corrosion conditions exist, and, at times, welding dissimilar steels. Packaged for portable welding machines. Conforms to AWS A5.9 ER 309L.Features
- Welds type 304 and similar base metals in wrought or cast form and where severe conditions may exist
- Sometimes welds dissimilar steels
- Lower carbon content (0.03% maximum) resists carbide precipitation that can cause weld corrosion
- 87,000 psi tensile strength (as welded)
- 58,000 psi yield strength (as welded)
- 40% elongation (as welded)
- 60% reduction of area (as welded)
- 85 HRB Rockwell B hardness (as welded)
- 160 HB Brinell hardness (as welded)
- 105 ft./lb. @ room temperature Charpy V (as welded)
- One year warranty
- Conforms to ANSI/AWS A5.9 and ASME SFA 5.9 ER 309L
Applications
- Welding base metals of similar composition in wrought or cast form
- Welding type 304 and similar base metals where severe conditions may exist
- Welding dissimilar steels
- The lower carbon content of 0.03% maximum will help avoid the possibility of intergranular carbide precipitation
